I was able to purchase the OPI Spiderman Collection of nail polishes a couple of weeks ago, however, there were no Shatter The Scales top coats in the city at the time. It took crossing three time zones for me to secure it at an Ulta, and boy was it worth it!! The deep emerald green shatter is stunningly gorgeous and none of the swatches I’ve seen, not even my own, have done it justice. Ha, ha, justice…superhero speak, lol.
The collection includes, from left to right, My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Your Web or Mine, Call Me Gwen-ever, Just Spotted The Lizard, Into The Night, and Number One Nemesis.
My Boyfriend Scales Walls is a little bit of a grey toned white. It’s a rich full color and spectacular under Shatter The Scales. Your Web Or Mine is a nice mid-toned rose colored pink frost. Call Me Gwen-ever is a great orange coral. Just Spotted The Lizard is a dead on dupe for Chanel Peridot. Save $25? Yesssss!!! It is a really pretty duochrome color, flashing shades of green and gold.
Into The Night is one of the prettiest sapphire toned blues I’ve ever seen. It has a depth to it from it’s lightly shimmering finish. Number One Nemesis is a complex color that is a steel grey color with micro sparkles of silver and gold. It’s similar to Chanel Graphite, however, Graphite is a little darker.
I was looking forward to applying Shatter The Scales on top of each color to see how they worked together, so I prepared my swatch wheel for when I would find the awesome green shatter. And it waited….and waited…
Poor lonely little wheel. So I was pretty excited to be on vacation and finally come across that lucious emerald shatter. It’s not a flat type of color, having emerald colored micro-sparkles in it. I’m guessing Dorothy wore this on her fingers when she entered the Emerald City. She just had to!
Naturally, once I returned home, I swatched the lonely half of my wheel, coming to full Superhero completeness.
And here I am in real life wearing Shatter The Scales over a lilac frost that was already on my fingers. Pardon my messy application, I just threw it on in the excitement to look at it, not with the intention of including it on my blog, but I haven’t had the will to remove it yet, cuz I lurrrrve it.
So what’s with this newly re-written Spiderman story anyway? There’s a lot of debate in my house about how it can really be Spidey with no Mary Jane. I’m not a real comic book nerd so I find the discussion amusing, but either way, I’m really looking forward to the new movie and their take on the new story. How about you?
