Can you say Hologram? Sure, I knew you could! Holy holo, Batman! The colors are gorgeous, have a great holo effect and there are new colors added to the Hologram Effect line. You might have seen these in Ulta, if you’re in the US and lucky enough to have that store in your area. They are also available online at Ninja Polish. What? You want to see close up pictures? Ask and you shall receive.
Could they possibly be any more amazing? No, they could not. One great thing about Layla Cosmetics nail polishes is that you don’t need a base coat. Nothing is going to interfere with your holographic polish. There is a buffer for the holos which you use to prepare the nail and then just apply polish. Layla polishes don’t discolor or stain the nails. They’re really amazing formulations.
Myself and the other bloggers who attended Cosmoprof 2012 were invited to an evening sponsored by Layla Cosmetics where we could visit and learn about Layla. I learned about the company but also a lot about the nail polish industry in general. It was a wonderful time with the ladies.
The story of Layla Cosmetics is so sweet. The founder, an Italian gentleman, worked on a ship. It had broken down and he was stranded in NYC for two years. He lived in the dock area, around where people made nail polish. In his spare time, he learned everything he could about polish and then took it back to his home in Milan. He was deeply in love with an Arabian woman named Layla, (pronounced LYE-la), and he named his company after her. They then had a daughter they named Layla as well. Isn’t that a sweet love story that produced both children and a terrific formula of polish? The factory is still in Milan and if you go to Italy, you may want to be sure and tour it. It sounds fascinating!
Layla has an amazing polish finish that I haven’t seen anywhere else. It’s called Softouch Effects. You might think at first glance that they’re mattes, but they’re not. They give almost a velvety look. Some of them have sparkle and some don’t. They are like a subdued polish in their finish. You have to see and feel it to believe it. They are simply gorgeous. They’re almost like a satiny feeling mattish polish.
Let me tell you about Layla’s Magneffects nail polish. Remember none of the Layla polishes need a base coat because they will NOT stain the nail!! I found that if you apply a thick coat of the Magneffect, you’ll get a more visible marbling from the magnet. Unfortunately, I seem to have missed a photograph of their Magneffects polish wheels. Such a shame because they have some really pretty colors, some with glitter in them. (I’m a glitter fiend).
I do have something similar for you…the Magneffect Softouch Effect nail polish swatches. They are magnetic and have the similar finish to the Softouch Effect polishes.
The magnet on the polishes are attached to the top of the bottle. It is, by far, the strongest magnet I’ve used with polish. You can feel the pull when it’s placed near your finger. It truly works. When you roll your finger around afterward, looking at it from different angles, it’s like a cat’s eye marble. Pretty Cool.
If you’re looking for a great chrome nail, you need to try the Layla Mirror Effect nail polish. There is a buffer that you need to get which buffs the nail to a shine, taking out any lines or ridges you might have. You need that to achieve the mirrored look. It’s super easy and it’s not a ridged buffer like what you’re used to. Stunning!
Last, but by no means the least, are the Layla Ceramic Effects nail polishes. This is the bulk of the line from Layla. Every color of the rainbow exists here.
Here come my very favorite of the Layla Ceramic Effects. Gorgeous, gorgeous flakies!! This set will be released together as a holiday offering called Christmas In Laylaland.
